The Blå Hallen meetings

A penny plane in Blå Hallen.

Blå Hallen

Blå Hallen is the Stockholm City Hall, where once every year the Nobel Prize ceremony is held. It was also for several years the place for an annual indoor "propaganda" meeting. The ceiling is 21 meters high, without any hanging lighting armatures, etc. A perfect place for indoor flying? Well, the air is very turbulent, and the walls are littered with dangerous model-catching sculptures and niches. One Swedish indoor championship has been held there, but too many planes got caught out of reach. But, although the hall is not suitable for lightweight duration models, it is perfect for the heavier planes; NoCals, peanuts, Delta Darts and so on. Unfortunately, the indoor fliers no longer have access to this hall. The city council decided that the hall should only be lent out at market price, way too high for model flying. The last Blå Hallen meeting was held in 1999.

The Leijon Trophy

To promote indoor flying, Thomas Leijon has held annual No-Cal competitions for the Leijon Trophy since 1993. The rules used are:
Max. wingspan: 16" (40 cm)
Max. weight: 6.2 grams

In addition to the main competition (highest duration), there is also a Best-in-show prize for the best looking/most interesting No-Cal.
