About the model
A pistachio by Lars Tolkstam. In spite of seemingly non-ideal proportions for a pistachio, it can achieve flight durations of about 60 seconds, and has had plenty of success in competitions. In addition to several Swedish nationals wins, it placed first in the Nijmegen International Indoor Fly-In's in 2009 and 2010. The construction is traditional; tissue covered balsa structure.

About the origial
This two-seat biplane made its first flight in 1925. It had good flying qualities, as demonstrated by Ernst Udet with spectacular aerobatic routines at various air-shows. After the Udet company folded in 1926, production was continued by the Bayerischen Flugzeugwerken. In total, about 200 Flamingos were built.
